Puau Sibuan, Semporna
Malaysian Borneo encompasses the northern quarter of one of the world’s largest island. Reaching here requires some effort. You have to fly to Kuala Lumpur, go to Tawau, and then take a taxi to Semporna. However, this travel is certainly worth it. On a single dive, you can see eagle rays, turtles, octopuses, gray reef sharks, schooling whitetips, and swirling barracuda.
Atago Maru Wreck, Miri
The wreck of 345-foot Japanese merchant ship is now a house of predatory trevally and moray eels while barracuda roam in the vicinity.
Tanku Abdul Rahman Park, Kota Kinabalu
This place is a house of big sea animals. You can see reef sharks, rays, and turtles here. Whale sharks can be seen during March and April.
World War II Wreck, Kuching
There are many wrecks near the Kuching coast. Ships like Katori Maru and Hiyoshi Maru are now home to snapper, batfish, and barracuda.
Sugar Wreck, Perhentian Islands
This ship sank in 2000 and has been overtaken by corals and sea creatures. While scuba diving in Malaysia, you can see reef fish, bamboo sharks, and reef fish. Big schools of jack, trevally, and snapper now live here.
Pulau Lima, Redang
This seamount attracts various sea creatures like whales and manta rays. You can also see black-tip sharks, barracudas, groupers, and tuna. There are gorgonias, whip coral gardens, and sea anemones as well. Scuba diving in Malaysia is time well spent.
